Written in honor of the Park’s golden 50-year anniversary, Biscayne National Park captures in words and images the story of the Park from before its European discovery in the 1500s, to its designation as a national monument in 1968, to its 50th anniversary in 2018. For 50 years the Park has protected the bulk of Biscayne Bay, its Caribbean-style limestone islands topped with tropical forest, its coral reefs, its wildlife, its remnants of a rich human history and its recreational opportunities that continue to attract half a million visitors a year. The final chapter features Kirsten’s modern photographs to celebrate the park as it is today.
