Workshops & Tours

Hands-on training is the best way to learn! I offer workshops covering the topics listed below for group sessions. Prices vary with workshop duration and participant number; I strive to keep numbers low in order to maximize individual attention. Please check my events page for upcoming opportunities, or contact me to organize a workshop for your own group.

Wildlife Photography

I teach both generalized wildlife photography workshops and those focused on a specific type of animal, such as birds or reptiles. Generally tailored toward beginner and intermediate-level photographers, I offer both field and post-processing training that emphasizes not only wildlife-specific methodologies but also compositional tools and technical settings to maximize the impact of your images through visual storytelling. To learn more about my methods, please visit my Capturing Nature and Inspiration pages.

Introduction to Nature Photography

Designed as an introduction for beginners, this workshop provides an overview of the basic equipment, techniques and compositional tools used in nature photography. With the concept of visual storytelling at its base, this workshop can be adjusted to focus on specific aspects of nature photography (wildlife, plants or landscapes, for example) and can target different skill levels, including those of you using simple point and shoot cameras (yes, even your smartphone). To learn more about my methods, please visit my Capturing Nature and Inspiration pages.

Gardening for Wildife in South Florida

In addition to covering the basics of gardening for wildlife in sub-tropical South Florida, this workshop walks participants through an analysis of their own yards. It takes the time to plot out individual yard usage, environmental constraints and desired wildlife outcomes to aide participants in identifying wildlife enhancement options within their own landscapes. To learn more about the concepts underlying this workshop, please check out my Attracting Birds to South Florida Gardens book and my Landscaping for South Florida Wildlife in Practice and Wildlife Gardening: Success is in the Regional Details blogs.
